Epicurean Nights - Winter Series was launched in February 2018 in Williamsburg, New York and was a series of immersive multi-sensory fine dining and art experiences.
It entailed a multi-course gastronomic meal designed in collaboration with prestigious chefs, paired perfectly with fantastic champagnes and wines, cocktails, musical performances, visual atmosphere and aromas. It was a blend of taste, sight, sound, smell and touch meant to delight guests.
I was tasked with painting a portrait of Epicure, the Greek philosopher who indulged the theory of simple pleasure through any means necessary.
I used specially made colored chocolate paint on edible chocolate canvas created by Frederic Robert, Pastry Chef Peninsula New York. I painted during the course of their meal and at the finale, Frederic smashed the portrait into pieces on a white table facing the audience. Then Frederic took a broken piece and ate it, revealing the canvas is edible, and invited guests on stage to share a taste.
The menu was designed by Chef Patrick Connolly, Rider, James Beard award winner and Frederic Robert, Pastry Chef Peninsula New York.
Performances by multi-instrumentalist composer, record producer and co-founder of the band Cibo Matto, Yuka Honda; Countertenor Opera singer, Anthony Roth Costanzo; Drummer, percussionist and singer, Stéphane San Juan; and Dancer and Choreographer, Or.
